Are you constantly trying out new brands of pacifiers to find one your baby likes?
Sometimes it feels like they all look the exact same. Other times they look like companies are trying too hard to be innovative.
Babies can be incredibly picky about accepting a certain pacifier brand, or they can happily suck away on any style you happen to have on hand.
At first, we believed our little one just didn't care about pacifiers one way or another. That can be a positive thing in its own way (no need to ween them off in the future!) Except it also took away a highly useful tool from our parenting toolbox.
One day, I was talking to another mama about all things baby. Then, she mentioned the single pacifier brand her 6-month-old daughter was accepting recently. And oddly, I had never even heard of it!
[And by the way… this is not a sponsored post.] I have never received any money or free items from the company. I'm not associated with them at all. (But wouldn't that be fun in the future?! A mom can dream…)
It's truly just one mama, surprised that after trying every brand The Bump and Babylist mentioned got spit right out by my baby.

Top Pacifier Brands We Tried
We have tried five of the ten pacifiers listed on Babylist's 11 Best Pacifiers of 2021. Each of them has good qualities that keeps them on a list worth trying, but none happened to keep our baby interested.
Was the best pacifier brand for us even recommended on the list? Nope!
Here are the ones that made the Babylist Best that we have floating around our house.
- Philips Avent Soothie Pacifier & WubbaNub Option– (We brought home a handful of free ones from the hospital. They were fine, but we just assumed our baby wasn't going to be a big pacifier user.)
- Nanobebe Flexy Pacifier – (I liked the look of these best. Too bad that didn't translate to my baby's personal preference.)
- MAM Start Newborn Pacifier – (These are the favorites for several of our friends, and continue to be the second best option for our little one!)
- Dr. Brown's One-piece Silicone Pacifier – (This just came as a free sample in a box of Dr. Brown's bottles I purchased. We haven't tried the pacifier yet. Updates to come!)

So, what is the best pacifier brand for my baby?
BIBS.
What are BIBS pacifiers?
They are a Danish pacifier brand dating back to 1978.
The mama who recommend them to me had been living in Ireland at the time she had her baby. They must be more prevalent in Europe, because I had never heard of them!
While there are a few style and material options, the BIBS Colour pacifiers (See? Very European!) are where the company began. Their website touts high quality materials and over 50 color options to choose from in each of their product lines – something for everybody.
At first glance, I thought the round pacifier shape looked potentially too big for a newborn (close to hitting his nose!) You might also cringe at the price when compared to many other popular brands (about $8 each.)
But let's be honest. When your colicky baby hasn't stopped crying in days, wouldn't you pay 50 times that for just a couple quiet hours and a few minutes of sleep?
So, why are BIBS pacifiers better than others?
Honestly, I'm not sure. It could be the circular shape, or the natural rubber latex material. It could be that the nipple is made more specifically in a way that works for my little one. Per their website:
“The round nipple promotes a similar tongue placement and sucking technique when breastfeeding, since the round shape allows the sides of the tongue to elevate and cup around the nipple, just like it does during breastfeeding. The nipple is equipped with a valve, letting out air when the baby closes down on the nipple. This ventilation system causes the air from inside the nipple to be pushed out through the valve thereby flattening the nipple to shape naturally after the baby's oral cavity.”
Whatever the reason, I have already purchased more so they can start spreading out across diaper bags, cars, bedrooms and everywhere else we always seem to need one!
Purchasing BIBS pacifiers
Great news, internet shopping mamas. BIBS pacifiers can be purchased on Amazon. That's exactly how I jumped online and bought a pair the same day I first heard about them.
I had not checked out the BIBS website, so I honestly had not realized there were other material and style options besides the classic BIBS Colour pacifier. This turned out to be no problem, because it's the one our baby is loving!
However, it may have been helpful to know about selecting the right pacifier size and material for my baby beforehand. It looks like BIBS has included articles on their blog to help with these decisions. Once you read through everything, you can also decide to go ahead and order directly from their site if you prefer.

Mom Gets the Last Word
I know, I know… half of that DEFINITELY sounds like a sales pitch. But it's not, I promise.
Or at least, not in the sense that I have any stake in the game here.
You know how it is, mama. Once you find something that WORKS, you want to shout it from the rooftops.
You want to buy one for every parent you've ever met, hoping they have the same experience.
And since my baby will now continue his nap with a second sleep cycle thanks to his favorite new pacifier, I have time to write this post and shout it out in case you are still teaching, too!
